That might be one of the most stupid things he’s ever heard, but he doesn’t bother saying so. It seems Bashasa agrees, at least, and that eases some weird worry in his stomach.
“They did,” he confirms, and he’s very grateful Bashasa isn’t looking at him still, “And of course we did. We were… part of them. The same family. No one… treated us differently.” His voice is quieter at the end, lost for a moment in the thought of them, all gone and with them the only family he’s really known.
